How to extract pages from a PDF
Upload the PDF to Split PDF, choose custom page ranges, type the pages you want (for example 3-5), and download the result. Each range becomes its own PDF, delivered in a ZIP.
โ๏ธ Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files by page range.
Step by step
- Open the Split PDF tool and upload your document.
- Choose "Custom page ranges".
- Type the pages you want. Use a dash for a run of pages and commas to separate groups, such as 2-4,9.
- Click "Split PDF" and download the ZIP. Each comma-separated group is a separate PDF inside it.
- Unzip it, open the file or files, and check you got the right pages.
How the ranges work
Page 1 is the first page of the document. Every comma-separated part becomes its own PDF, so the entry 1-3,5,7-9 produces three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5 on its own, and pages 7 to 9.
If you want those pages together in a single file, extract each group and then join them again with the merge guide.
When extracting pages helps
- Sharing one chapter, one invoice or one signature page rather than a whole document.
- Making a file small enough to email. Fewer pages usually means a much smaller file.
- Removing pages you do not want to share. If it is easier to name the pages to drop, the Delete Pages tool does the opposite job.
Things to know
- The pages are copied from your file without being re-compressed, so quality does not change.
- A password-protected PDF must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
- Your original file is not changed. You always download new files.

Open Split PDFFrequently asked questions
What does 1-3,5,7-9 mean?
Each comma-separated part is its own output file: pages 1 to 3 in the first, page 5 alone in the second, pages 7 to 9 in the third.
Will the extracted pages keep their quality?
Yes. Pages are copied directly with no re-encoding.
Why do I get a ZIP file?
Splitting can produce several PDFs, so they are always delivered together in one ZIP, even if you asked for a single range.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool (you need to know it), then extract from the unlocked copy.
Is there a way to remove pages instead?
Yes. The Delete Pages tool lets you list the pages to remove and keeps the rest.
