Open Rearrange Pages

Step by step

  1. Open the Rearrange Pages tool and upload your PDF.
  2. Open the PDF in a viewer and note how many pages it has and which page numbers you want where.
  3. Type the full new order, separated by commas. Every original page number must appear exactly once.
  4. Click "Rearrange Pages". If a number is missing or repeated, the tool tells you.
  5. Download the file and flick through it to confirm the order.

Worked examples for an 8-page file

  • Move page 5 to the front: 5,1,2,3,4,6,7,8
  • Move page 2 to the end: 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,2
  • Swap pages 3 and 4: 1,2,4,3,5,6,7,8
  • Reverse the whole document: 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1

Why every page has to be listed

Listing every page once guarantees that no page is accidentally dropped. If you want to get rid of pages, use Delete Pages instead, which lets you name the pages to remove.

Typical reasons to reorder

  • A batch of pages was scanned in the wrong sequence, for example front sides first and back sides after.
  • You want a summary or signature page at the front.
  • You merged several files and need to interleave their pages. See the merge guide for combining files first.
  • Some pages are sideways as well; fix those with the rotation guide.

The most common mistake

The numbers you type are the original page numbers, not the new positions. In 3,1,2,4 the first page of the result is original page 3.

If you run the tool a second time on the new file, the numbers refer to that new file, so write them against its page order.

Frequently asked questions

What if I get the order wrong?

The tool checks that every page from 1 to the page count appears exactly once, and tells you clearly if one is missing or repeated.

Do I have to type every page number?

Yes. Listing every page once makes sure nothing gets dropped. To remove pages, use the Delete Pages tool.

How do I find out how many pages my PDF has?

Open it in any PDF viewer; the page count is shown near the page number at the top or bottom.

Does reordering change the quality?

No. Pages are moved, not redrawn, so text and images look exactly as they did before.

Can I reverse a document?

Yes. List the pages from last to first, such as 4,3,2,1 for a four-page file.
