How to split a PDF into single pages

Upload the PDF to Split PDF, choose "one PDF per page", and download the ZIP. Every page of the original becomes its own PDF file.

โœ‚๏ธ Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files by page range.

Open Split PDF

Step by step

  1. Open the Split PDF tool and upload the document.
  2. Choose the option that splits into individual pages (one PDF per page).
  3. Click "Split PDF" and download the ZIP when it is ready.
  4. Unzip the download. You will find one PDF for each page, in page order.
  5. Rename or move the files you need. Keep the ones you do not need out of the way, or delete them.

Typical uses

  • A batch of scanned documents that came out as one long PDF and needs filing as separate items.
  • A multi-page form where each person needs only their own page.
  • Handing out individual pages of a long report or a printed set of certificates.

Tips for working with the results

  • The files come out in page order, so sort by name to keep them in sequence.
  • You only need a few of the pages? Use custom ranges instead, as shown in the page extraction guide, to avoid dozens of files you do not want.
  • To put some pages back together later, use the merge guide.

What stays the same

Pages are copied without re-compression, so quality is unchanged. A page that was part of a protected PDF cannot be split until the password is removed with Unlock PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how big the PDF can be?

The limit that applies is the file size of your plan: 25 MB per file on the free plan and 200 MB on paid plans.

What order are the single-page files in?

They follow the page order of the original, so the first file is page 1, the second is page 2, and so on.

Will the page quality change?

No. Pages are copied directly from the source file without being re-compressed.

Can I split into groups of pages instead?

Yes. Choose custom page ranges and enter groups such as 1-3,4-6 to get a file for each group.

Is the original file kept intact?

Yes. Splitting never changes your original; you download new files.
