How to collect signatures on a PDF
- Upload the PDF and add the people who must sign.
- Choose a signer, then click on the pages to place their signature, initials, date or text boxes.
- Click "Send for signature". Each signer gets an email link and signs on their phone or computer.
- When everyone has signed, you and the signers get the signed PDF with a certificate of completion.
Frequently asked questions
Do the signers need an account?
No. They open the link from their email, check the document, sign with their finger, mouse or a typed name, and finish. Only you, the sender, need an account.
Is an electronic signature legally valid in India?
The Information Technology Act, 2000 recognises electronic signatures. A signature collected with consent and a record of who signed and when is accepted for most everyday agreements such as rent, offers, quotes and NDAs. It is not an Aadhaar eSign or a Digital Signature Certificate, and some documents (for example property registration) still need those.
What does the certificate of completion show?
The last page of the signed PDF lists every signer, the time and IP address of each signature, the activity trail and a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the original file, so anyone can check the document was not changed.
How long is my PDF kept?
While the request is open, and after it is signed for 30 days on the Free plan or 1 year on Basic and Pro. After that the files are deleted from our server. Download the signed copy before then.
What if a signer does not sign?
You can resend the email from your Signatures page, or cancel the request. Links stop working after the number of days you choose.
